Our Best Ever Stay in Byron Bay: Waking Up To Whales

We stayed in the gorgeous Tiny House at Reflections Byron Bay, overlooking Clarkes Beach — and after staying in plenty of places around Byron over the years, this is by far our favourite!

Staying at the Reflections Byron Bay Tiny House
Every now and then you stay somewhere that you reeeeeally don't want to leave — and this was definitely one of those places.
I stayed in the Tiny House at Reflections Byron Bay with my daughter for a little mum-and-daughter getaway, and honestly, the location is pretty hard to beat.
The tiny house sleeps two and sits right at the front of Reflections Byron Bay, overlooking beautiful Clarkes Beach.
It's located inside the holiday park, but it really doesn't feel like it. I was actually surprised by how private it felt.
And then there's the view.

Waking Up to Dolphins and Whales
This was probably my favourite part of the entire stay.
There's a huge window beside the bed looking straight out towards the ocean, and you can literally lie in bed in the morning and watch the water.
We stayed in September, right in the middle of whale migration season, and every morning we watched whales breaching as they passed Byron Bay.
We also saw dolphins playing out the front.
All without even getting out of bed!
Whales migrate past Byron Bay from around June to October, so winter and early spring can be an incredible time to stay here. Of course, wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but if you're lucky, you might get a morning view like ours.

What's Inside the Tiny House?
It's called a tiny house for a reason, but it really does have everything you need for a comfortable stay for two.
There's a full kitchen with everything you need to prepare your own meals, which we loved. Especially when you've got that view, sometimes it's much nicer to make breakfast or lunch at home rather than head into town.
There's also a private bathroom with a shower and toilet, a comfortable bed positioned beside the huge ocean-view window and everything you need for a few nights away.
Outside, there's a table and chairs where you can sit in the sunshine and have breakfast or lunch.

Parking at Reflections Byron Bay
Another huge bonus in Byron Bay: you have your own parking space right beside the tiny house.
If you've spent much time in Byron, you'll know how handy that is.
We brought our bikes with us and once we'd parked the car, we really didn't need to use it much at all.

One of the Best Locations in Byron Bay
The location is one of the biggest reasons I'd stay here again.
Reflections Byron Bay sits at Clarkes Beach, between the centre of Byron Bay and Cape Byron Lighthouse.
We could jump on our bikes and be in town in around five minutes, or you can easily walk in around 10–15 minutes.
In the other direction, you're perfectly positioned for the Cape Byron Walking Track and the walk up towards the lighthouse.
So even though you're incredibly close to everything, once you're back at the tiny house it feels surprisingly peaceful and private.
Travel Tip: Koalas love to hang around in the trees just after The Pass carpark along the Lighthouse Walk - so make sure you keep an eye out for them if you are walking up to the lighthouse

Kayaking With Dolphins in Byron Bay
One of the absolute highlights of our stay was heading out with Cape Byron Kayaks, just a couple of minutes' walk from Reflections.
Kids aged five and over can join the tours, making this such a fun activity to do together as a family.
We paddled out from Clarkes Beach, past The Pass and around towards Wategos Beach, where we were lucky enough to find a pod of dolphins swimming nearby.
Being out on the water, watching wild dolphins so close to our kayaks, with the beautiful Byron Bay coastline around us, was such an incredible experience — definitely one of those moments we'll remember for a long time.
On the way back, we even managed to catch a couple of little waves in the kayaks before landing back on Clarkes Beach.
And the best part? From there, it was only a few minutes' walk back to our tiny house. Such a great way to spend an afternoon in Byron Bay.

Other things you can easily do from the tiny house include swimming or surfing at Clarkes Beach, walking to The Pass, doing the Cape Byron Lighthouse walk, cycling into town or simply spending the day at the beach.
Honestly though, I'd make sure you leave yourself some time to just enjoy the tiny house.

Is the Tiny House Good for Couples?
Definitely.
It sleeps two, so I think this would make an amazing couples' weekend in Byron Bay.
It's also perfect for a mum-and-daughter trip like ours, a solo getaway, birthday weekend, anniversary or just a couple of nights somewhere special.

The Best Place We've Stayed in Byron Bay
We've stayed in a lot of accommodation around Byron Bay over the years, and I can genuinely say this is the best place we've stayed.
Waking up and watching whales breach from bed. Seeing dolphins play in the waves. Enjoying breakfast in the sunshine. Being able to ride our bikes into town. Swimming at Clarkes Beach. And then coming back to this tiny little space that somehow feels tucked away from everything.
For such a tiny house, it delivers a pretty incredible Byron Bay experience.

Would We Stay Again?
100%.
I'd particularly recommend staying during whale season if you can. We stayed in September and waking up each morning to watch whales passing Byron Bay was something pretty special.
If you're looking for somewhere unique to stay in Byron Bay for two people, this would be right at the top of my list.
